Building cabinets in Sarasota is not like building them anywhere else. I learned that fast.
One job on Siesta Key really sticks with me. The air right off the ocean was so wet. The wood kept trying to expand from all that moisture. If I had not planned for it, the cabinets would have looked awful. I had to pick the right wood and leave a little extra room so the wood could move without causing problems. Then there was the sun. The Florida sun is no joke. It was fading fast. I found paints and stains made to hold up against UV rays and hoped for the best.
When the job was done and everything looked perfect — the fit, the finish, the color — I felt really proud. That is what I love about doing this work in Sarasota. It pushes you to do better. And when you get it right, you know it.
